GTLawyers is the first law firm in Brazil to obtain the EFE label – French Companies Abroad!

The EFE label (Entreprise de Français à l’Étranger) is a distinction that recognizes companies founded by French nationals abroad, which, through their activities, contribute to the influence of France worldwide. It rewards initiatives that locally and globally promote values related to culture, economy, technology, science, and the France brand.

This recognition is, above all, an acknowledgment of the work we carry out with our French clients in Brazil. This achievement reflects our trajectory and commitment to the partnership between France and Brazil, promoting values such as integrity, professionalism, and excellence in supporting international companies and groups.

We thank EFE International for this distinction, which reinforces GTLawyers' role in supporting not only French companies choosing Brazil as their destination but also contributing to France’s visibility and influence abroad.

As we bid farewell to 2025, we reflect on the past months filled with events and achievements that strengthened our presence in the legal and innovation arenas:

We were once again recognized in the prestigious Análise Advocacia 2025 and 2026 ranking, a reflection of our team's collective efforts and the trust our clients place in our work. We also celebrate significant leadership milestones: Tamy Tanzilli was appointed SME Director at the France-Brazil Chamber of Commerce (CCIFB), while Cécile Verdeaux took over the Legal Direction at Belgalux - Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Brazil, showcasing our strategic role in strengthening ties between Brazil and foreign markets.

Our commitment to innovation and international positioning has been reinforced by our participation in major events, such as the French Tech Summit, and the launch of GT TechStart by Carolina Moresco, an initiative supporting startups in their legal and business challenges.

Beyond technical achievements, 2025 emphasized the importance of being close to the communities in which we operate. We organized actions such as Children’s Day with Lar Batista De Crianças and our Green Day, in addition to contributing to organizations like the Salvation Army, La Bienfaisance, and São Paulo Accueil.

We thank everyone who accompanied us during this extraordinary year – clients, partners, and colleagues. Every interaction and collaboration has been essential to our success and growth.

With enthusiasm, we look forward to 2026, ready to embrace new challenges. We wish everyone a New Year filled with achievements and success!

GTLawyers team

GTLawyers was represented by our lawyer Andrés Berridi at the Gala Dinner of the Spanish Chamber, celebrating the entity's 70th anniversary.

The historic event brought together authorities, business leaders, members, and directors who strengthen, day by day, the ties between Brazil and Spain, highlighting the achievements made through this partnership.

Among the highlights of the evening, the Brazilian Personality Award was presented to the Mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, and the Spanish Personality Award to Ruben Escartín, President of the Prima Group, in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the cooperation between the two countries.

We congratulate the Spanish Chamber for another unforgettable event and for its contribution to strengthening the relations between Brazil and Spain.

We are proud to celebrate yet another achievement — and, above all, to celebrate the strength of women in the legal profession.

The three partners of GTLawyers – Tamy Tanzilli, Carolina Moresco, and Anne-Catherine Brunschwig – were recognized in Análise Advocacia 2026, reaffirming the excellence, competence, and female leadership that inspire our firm every single day. It is impossible not to recall that just over a century ago, women were still fighting for the right to practice law: In Brazil, access to the profession was only solidified in 1906; in France, full authorization arrived in 1900.

Today, seeing three women at the helm of GTLawyers, counted among the most admired names in the country, is an achievement that echoes this historical journey and symbolizes how far we have come. This recognition reflects not only each of their journeys but also GTLawyers' commitment to building an environment of excellence, ethics, and humanization, where female talent occupies the place it has always deserved.

We congratulate our partners for this important milestone!

We had the honor of attending the 25th anniversary celebration of the Personality Award, organized by the France-Brazil Chamber of Commerce - CCIFB – Rio de Janeiro. This year, the award recognized the outstanding work of Rio de Janeiro’s Mayor, Eduardo Paes, for his significant contributions to key areas.

We congratulate the Chamber for the flawless organization of such a meaningful event and for its continuous efforts to strengthen Franco-Brazilian relations.

Here’s to many more years of fostering the ties between our two countries!

This past Thursday (27/11), we had the honor to attend the first edition of the Franco-Brazilian Franchising Seminar, organized by the French-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce - CCIFB of São Paulo (CCIFB-SP) in partnership with the Brazilian Franchising Association (ABF).

The event strengthened the connection between the French and Brazilian markets by hosting high-level panels that discussed the challenges and opportunities of franchises in both countries.

Event highlights:

  • Panel 1: French franchises in Brazil — Companies such as L'Occitane au Brésil, our client 5àsec, and Jadlog Logística shared their insights and strategies for successful expansion in Brazil.
  • Panel 2: Brazilian franchises in France — Innovative brands like OAKBERRY, Dengo Chocolates, and Corpo Bueno demonstrated how they are bringing the best of Brazil to the French market with authenticity and ambition.

Congratulations to CCIFB-SP, ABF, and all the speakers for an informative and inspiring event!

Last Wednesday, we had the great pleasure of participating in Pitch Day Associados, an event promoted by Belgalux - Belgian-Luxembourg-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Brazil.

Our lawyer in charge of the French Desk, Cécile Verdeaux, who is also the Legal Director of Belgalux, excellently represented the firm, highlighting GTLawyers' work within the Belgian-Luxembourg-Brazilian business community. Our thanks to Belgalux - Belgian-Luxembourg-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Brazil for the invitation!

Thank you to all participants and presenters. Let’s continue working together, collaborating, and building bridges between business communities.

Law nº 15.265/2025, which establishes the Special Regime for Asset Update and Regularization (REARP), was published on 11/21/2025. It allows the update of the value of real estate and vehicles in the Income Tax and the regularization of lawful undeclared assets.

The law incorporates some fiscal measures that were originally included in the Provisional Measure for the IOF (MP 1.303/2025), which expired in October.

Adherence to REARP will be done through declaration and will allow the choice among the following modalities for assets acquired up to 12/31/2024:

II -Update of the value of motor vehicles, watercraft, and aircraft subject to public registry, as well as real estate located within the national territory or abroad;

II - Regularization of assets or rights that have not been declared or have been declared with omission or inaccuracy in essential data.

The update of assets will serve as an anticipation of the Income Tax on capital gains, allowing the declaration to reflect current market values and promoting asset transparency.

For the update, the following rates will apply to the financial increase calculated on the declared difference:

  • Individuals: 4% Income Tax
  • Entities: 4.8% IRPJ and 3.2% CSLL

It is important to emphasize that if the updated asset is sold within 5 years (for real estate) or 2 years (for movable assets) after adherence to REARP (except for transfer due to death or partition), the effects of REARP are nullified, with the imposition of Income Tax on the capital gain (deducting the tax already paid, updated by the Selic rate).

Individuals who opted for the asset update provided under Law nº 14.973/2024 for their real estate may migrate to REARP.

Regarding modality II, it allows the regularization of resources, assets or rights of lawful origin held in Brazil or abroad, or repatriated, by residents or those domiciled in the country as of 12/31/2024. This includes even undeclared assets or those declared with omission or error before 12/31/2024, including those already sold.

The total amount of regularized assets will be considered a patrimonial increase acquired on 12/31/2024, subject to Income Tax at a rate of 15%, and a penalty of 100% of the tax owed.

Adherence to REARP, whether for asset update or regularization, must be completed within 90 days from the publication of the law, with the submission of the corresponding declaration and tax payment in a single installment or up to 36 monthly installments.

In addition to REARP, Law nº 15.265/2025 introduces new rules for the taxation of financial operations, such as loans of securities in Brazil and the taxation of hedge operations with derivatives abroad.

Important changes were also made to other laws, such as: Restrictions on the compensation of non-cumulative PIS/Cofins credits unrelated to economic activity; The modernization of medical examinations for sick leave benefits, allowing telemedicine and document analysis; Stricter conditions for granting and maintaining fishing unemployment insurance.

For further information on the subject, we remain at your disposal.
